Puerto Rico - land of salsa and sun
San Felipe del Morro
uerto Rico is an island teeming with beauty and vitality. There is no place like a tropical volcanic island, and no island in the Caribbean quite like Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico is only about 100 miles long and 35 miles wide, so its most distant points are only a three-hour drive apart. From easy leisurely drives and walks to serious hiking, rock climbing, spelunking, kayaking, and camping on deserted islands, the nature lover and adventure traveler can find it all in Puerto Rico.

Puerto Rico offers an array of diversity. On one small island you can experience thousands of years of history and distinct cultures that depicts three influences: Indian, African and Spanish.

The north side of the island is covered by dense vegetation, karst formations, and rushing streams, while, the south side is sun-toasted terrain, home to tropical dry forests and many species of exotic birds.

Puerto Rico is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Beaches come in every size, color, and form, from the pure white dunes of Isabela to the black volcanic sands near Punta Santiago.

Puerto Rico offers the active traveler a tremendous array of opportunities like Spectacular surfing waves, a challenging golf course, or the perfect sunbathing beach. The favorite beaches in Puerto Rico are Isla Verde Beach, Sun Bay, Caña Gorda, Flamenco, Shacks, Luquillo Beach, Seven Seas, Crash boat.

Isla Verde Beach is actually a series of beaches stretching for miles in front of luxury resorts, restaurants and private clubs. Isla Verde really comes alive on weekends. Beach lovers stream in from everywhere to get some sun, splash in the sea, party with family and friends, play beach volleyball, or walk along the sandy shores.

Isla Verde Beach Sun Bay is a long crescent of white sand, its calm, emerald green waters, and the plentiful shade provided by sea grapes and palm trees. Caña Gorda Public Beach is a favorite among local families and visitors for its tranquil emerald waters and broad white coral beachfront.

The crowning jewel is Flamenco Beach, recently named one of the Best Beaches in America and Best Escape Beach by the Travel Channel. Flamenco is only one of many unspoiled, pristine beaches on Culebra where you can enjoy blissful solitude as you swim in the blue green waters or explore some of the most stunning coral reef formations in the Caribbean.

Shacks Shacks has an international reputation as one of the premier windsurfing spots in the world and is often compared with Maui. Despite its worldwide reputation, Shacks is never crowded. Shacks provides an ideal setting for windsurfing, wave jumping and kite surfing. During the rest of the year, you can stroll among the sea grapes in search of the perfect seashell, or simply bask in the warm, tropical sun.

Luquillo remains one of the island's most popular beaches, and with good reason. Offshore reefs keep the waters calm, so families can relax knowing that lifeguards are on duty and that rough surf and deep waters are far, far away.

Seven Seas Beach draws locals and tourists to this cozy stretch of shoreline. A great place to snorkel, the shallow sea bottom at Seven Seas is teaming with tropical fish, coral formations and an abundance of other sea life.

Top attractions include Fuerte San Felipe del Morro, San José, Ceremonial Park, Maunabo, Hacienda Buena Vista, Hacienda Buena Vista, Porta Coeli, Old San Juan

Puerto Rico has some of the most appealing and famed casinos in the Caribbean. Beat the house at blackjack or roulette, feel the almost palpable suspense and anticipation, or sit back and enjoy an exotic drink while you watch the high rollers at work. Puerto Rico offers as many choices of dining atmosphere and cuisine as any major city on the mainland.

The Caribbean has a well-deserved reputation as a quiet, laid-back place, where hammocks are more common than discos. But Puerto Ricans, however, truly know how to party, and the nightlife in the island's bigger cities and resort hotels rivals that of the world's most cosmopolitan cities!
