Grand Bay
One of the best areas for sailing, windsurfing and water skiing. Grand Bay was the first area of the island to fully experience the tourist boom. A shopping and leisure paradise, Grand Bay also happens to be the area where Mauritians head for when they want a fun-filled night out (restaurants, bars and discos). Recently renovated, La Cuvette beach is well worth a visit.
Pereybere:
The wonderful Pereybere public beach is popular because of its shopping facilities, restaurants and pubs. This remarkable small cove half-way between Grand Bay and Cap Malheureux is one of the finest bathing spots on the island.
Ile aux Cerfs
Ile aux Cerfs (Stag Island) is a paradise for water sports and has the most beautiful beach in Mauritius. You cannot afford to miss this tiny island, delicately poised on the ocean, a real pearl in the Mauritian landscape. It has excellent beaches for swimming and snorkelling and the shallow lagoon is particularly safe for children. It takes about 3 hours to walk round of the island but visitors are advised not to stray off the marked paths. The northern tip is reserved for public facilities and include first aid post, showers, toilets, shops and a boat house for watersports and boat trips. There is a tortoise and deer pen. Public services operate from the jetty at Pointe Maurice via gardens off to the main approach road of Touessrok. The crossing takes about 20 minutes and motorists may leave vehicles in the shaded free parking area. Boats leave every half hour from 9am to 5pm. Staying overnight and picnicking are prohibited but refreshment is available from the hotel managed beach bar and restaurants.

The longest village on the island, Triolet offers an opportunity to visit the biggest Hindu temple, the Maheswarnath, first built in 1819 in honour of the Gods Shiva, Krishna, Vishnu, Muruga, Brahma and Ganesha.
Balaclava Ruins
A few metres away from Baie aux Tortues, which 17th century sailors named after the many tortoises in the area, can be found the ruins of the old Balaclava estate. Visitors will be able to see the sea walls, whose initial foundations were laid down by Mahé de Labourdonnais.
Port Louis, famous for its bustling market. By night, in contrast, all is quiet - except for the swish new Le Caudan Waterfront, where you’ll find a casino, cinemas, shops, bars and restaurants.
Mauritius is situated in the south of the equator and just north of the Tropic of Capricorn. It is about 800 km to the east of Madagascar. Rodrigues and Reunion are the islands which,with Mauritius are known as the Mascarenes Archipelago. Mauritius is 1,864 sq. Km (720 square miles) in area. Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Airport airport lies 30 miles (48 km.) from the city Port Louis. Travel time to Port Louis is approximately 45 minutes.
